• advance payment protection
• substandard workmanship.

Advance Payment Protection

Protects you from loss of an advance payment to a contractor, for labour, materials and products where the contractor is unable to fulfill contractual obligations due to liquidation or bankruptcy. It covers:

• Incomplete residential work up to the value of the amount prepaid by you, the consumer, up to a limit of $15,000 inc GST.
• Situations where the company or sole trader have ceased trading, and/or are in liquidation or bankruptcy.
• Replacement (if required) and installation of any product purchased by the contractor from prepaid or part payment made by the consumer, that has not been installed and cannot be retrieved from the original contractor.

Workmanship Cover

Protects you from substandard workmanship by any current Master Plumbers member.

This covers:

• Substandard workmanship, irrespective of whether the contract is complete, to be remedied by either the original contractor or an alternative member as determined by Master Plumbers, Gasfitters & Drainlayers NZ
• Substandard workmanship that is upheld by Master Plumbers, Gasfitters & Drainlayers NZ
• Work done by the original contractor only
• Labour costs, up to $10,000 inc GST
• Residential work
• Unpaid contracts where the amount unpaid relates solely to the specific work in dispute.
